Parent view - RE Questionnaires

Parent view December 2024

Thank you for all your contributions to our RE questionnaires.

We have had 50 responses this year.

Question 1 - The mission statement 'Be humble, be simple, bring joy to the school' is central to the life of the school.  We are delighted that this question received 100% agreement from you again.  Thank you.

There were only 3 questions which indicated that some of you disagreed. Please allow us to offer a response;

Question10 -  My child enjoys and participates enthusiastically in collective worship

One family said they did not know, and another family said they disagreed with this statement.

Please look out for posts on Class Dojo.  You will see videos and images of your children participating enthusiastically in Collective Worship.  I would also encourage you to attend class masses in school or Church, especially the Whole school occasions at the end of each term which are filled with joy and full participation.  I am sure all those in attendance at our Nativities and Carols would have to agree that the children are filled with joy when they participate.

Question13 -  My child enjoys Religious Education.

One family disagreed and one family did not know.

We do understand that all children will not enjoy all subjects

RE Inspection September 2023 found that “Pupils enjoy lessons and

therefore, engage well in their learning.”

Question 16 - The school keeps me informed about what my child is studying in RE

One family disagreed and one family did not know.

Please be aware that we post the current RE learning for the term on our school website under the title of Curriculum.   The information provides detail about what each year group will be learning in RE.  This information is also on the Curriculum overviews which we send out to parents on Class Dojo at the beginning of each new half term.

I will now start posting this letter on Dojo as well, in case it is missed.

Our lowest question was Question 7 - The school has strong links with the wider community.

This question had 86% in agreement and 14% of families who did not know.

Please be aware that we have many wonderful links with our local community, for example;

  •          Our Parish community – a class attends weekly mass, and the parishioners are invited into school on the first Thursday of every month.
  •          The Westend Food bank, which the Mini Vinnies collect canned and dried goods for every Friday.
  •          Our High schools – joint events and transition days.
  •          The local bike community who use our track and outdoor facilities.
  •          The sharing of our school mini busses within local school communities.
  •          The High school use our track for charity runs.
  •          Shared links across the Trust with after school sports clubs and leaders.
  •          Choir sing at local Care Homes.
  •          Year 1 and Eary Years visit Care homes.
  •          Clothing bank accessible to all in the car park.

To keep you informed we will;

  •          Continue posting on Dojo so families can witness our commitment to the Catholic Life of the school and social justice.
  •          Send out diary dates for the year including all masses and which Year groups are leading them.
  •          Ensure that all children are clear about next steps in learning, and they can talk about it.
  •          Post the RE termly newsletter is on school website and Dojo, so you can see what your child is learning in RE.

All other questions on the questionnaires scored an agreement of 92% or above.

Please come and ask school if you would like any more clarity on the Catholic Life of the school, our Religious Education or Prayer and Liturgy.

Many thanks, Miss Rutledge and Mrs Hall
